Overview
Why Confined Space Training Matters
Confined spaces remain one of the leading causes of multiple-fatality incidents in construction and general industry. Every role on the job, from the person entering the space to the one authorizing the permit, needs training scoped to their actual responsibilities.
Every Role, Covered Separately
Distinct training tracks for entrants and attendants, entry supervisors, and competent persons, so each role gets the depth it actually needs.
Reduce Incidents & Violations
Understand atmospheric hazards, permit systems, and rescue procedures so your crew and your paperwork hold up if OSHA ever shows up.
Train on Any Schedule
Self-paced, mobile-friendly lessons your staff can complete between shifts, on any device.
English & Spanish
Course content is available in both languages, suited to mixed-language crews and project teams.
Instant Certification
A certificate of completion is issued immediately after each course, ready for your compliance files.
Built for Real Jobsites
Scenarios drawn from tanks, vaults, manholes, and utility work, not generic classroom theory.

See Course DetailsA Role-Based Combination
Most sites need more than one course: entrants and attendants trained in Permit-Required Entry, an entry supervisor trained in Supervisor duties, and a designated Competent Person overseeing the program. Bulk pricing is available per course. See the pricing section below or call 1-866-429-6742 to plan group training across roles.

What "Competent Person" means: OSHA defines a competent person by knowledge, experience, hazard-recognition ability, and authority to take corrective action. This course supports that role, but the employer must designate and authorize the competent person for the specific worksite; a certificate of completion alone doesn't confer the designation.
All four courses issue a certificate of completion, not an OSHA certification. OSHA does not certify, approve, or endorse individual training providers or programs. See what your certificate does and doesn't mean →

Credential Transparency
What Your Certificate Does & Doesn't Mean
Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of completion for the selected confined space training course. This certificate documents completion of training content aligned with applicable OSHA confined space standards. It does not mean OSHA has certified the student, endorsed the course, or issued a license. Employers remain responsible for determining whether employees are trained, qualified, and competent for their assigned confined space duties and jobsite conditions.
Certificate of Completion
Proof a student finished the course content and any required assessment. Not a government-issued credential.
OSHA-Aligned Training
Course content is designed around applicable OSHA confined space standards. "Aligned with" is not the same as "issued by" or "approved by" OSHA.
Employer-Required Documentation
Employers must keep their own training records showing who is qualified for which role on their specific site.
Competent Person Designation
A course builds the knowledge; only the employer can designate and authorize a Competent Person for a given worksite.
OSHA Outreach Cards
10- and 30-hour Outreach cards are a separate DOL/OSHA program and are not the same as a confined space training certificate.
IACET Provider Accreditation
HAZWOPER OSHA Training, LLC is an IACET-accredited provider. Accreditation applies at the provider level; confirm current status on IACET's directory.
For Employers
Employer Responsibilities
Online training can support OSHA compliance, but employers are responsible for ensuring employees are trained for the actual hazards, equipment, permit procedures, rescue arrangements, and worksite conditions they will encounter. Some confined space tasks may require hands-on equipment practice, site-specific instruction, annual review, rescue coordination, or additional employer documentation.
Hands-On & Site-Specific Training
Atmospheric monitors, ventilation equipment, harnesses, retrieval systems, communication tools, and permits often need hands-on, site-specific practice beyond online coursework.
Rescue Planning
A rescue plan (in-house team or dedicated rescue service) must be verified and ready before entry begins. Learn more →
Recordkeeping & Role Assignment
Employers must document who is trained for which role, and designate Competent Persons and rescue responsibilities for each site.
